To ensure the skills of our IT workforce meet current and future institutional needs, the SPARK experiential learning program was initiated, and a few staff have already taken advantages of opportunities to broaden their skillsets and professional networks. Planning for an IT Academy modeled after an IT training program at Harvard University is beginning as a team is formed to shape the effort. Data from skills and needs inventory surveys are being used to inform training activities. A discovery project is being initiated in support of the strategy to cultivate a workforce culture of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The project team will review HR programs and discuss them with the Chief Diversity Office. An inventory of diversity and inclusion activities in IT was conducted and included in a campus report for the diversity office. To strengthen IT communities and promote collaboration, open forums haven been held by a few IT units so that staff could stop by to learn more about other workgroups and potential career opportunities. A discovery project is also planned to review HR policies and practices, in support of the strategy to develop and implement consistent HR practices and programs across OneIT.
